Our Programs

Transforming Learning through Play

We are on a mission aligned with National Education Policy 2020 and NIPUN Bharat mission of Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN).
“A” for Apple, “B” for Ball, “C” for... and so it goes. Why can’t our minds come up with anything other than an apple for “A”? We are taught that the colour of the sky is blue. Haven’t we seen a pink sky too?
Concepts learnt at school remain so deeply ingrained in our brains that we can seldom think beyond the usual or obvious. The education system, as it stands in India, does not encourage the development of inquisitiveness amongst children. Teachers, who are a wondrous source of knowledge, deliver standardised and outdated content, which neither equips students to explore the “why” behind concepts, nor to think out-of-the-box.
With a quest to expand the horizon of possibilities for tender minds, we at Neev Shikshan Sanstha, Gujarat set out on an exciting journey in  2019. We revisited two central thought-streams in the field of education – the first regarding the language, and the second regarding the tools of delivery of Foundational Education. Our Pilots and experiments led us to the design programs that deliver fun-based experiential learning in the native language of the child. At its core, the programs have a “child first” philosophy.

“Jayraj, a primary school student from a working-class family, started school for the first time this year with no prior educational background. Initially shy and hesitant, he struggled with attention and participation. With regular classroom exposure and supportive guidance from his teachers, Jayraj gradually gained confidence and began actively taking part in learning activities.”

“A young girl at Shreenath was very introverted and rarely spoke, even hesitating to say her own name. With patient encouragement from an NSS team member, she slowly began to speak and take part in TLM activities. Over time, her confidence grew, and she now eagerly participates, answers questions first, and enjoys appreciation from her classmates, showing a beautiful journey from silence to confidence..”

Prisha MohitKumar Soni

“He is a pre-primary school student from a working family background. The child was directly admitted to the school and placed in Balvatika according to his age. At the time of admission, the child did not speak, did not sit properly, and often ran away from school. His mother is a housewife, and his father works in a private company. Despite having a supportive family environment, Hit initially struggled to express himself confidently in the classroom.”

“My name is Parul Thakur Bhai Shah, and I have been an Anganwadi worker for the last 28 years. Previously, we only taught children to sing and dance. Still, with the support of Neev Shikshan Sanstha, I learned how to utilise learning corners and use teaching-learning materials to make education joyful and meaningful for children. Now the children are more engaged, curious, and happy while learning. Neev Shikshan Sansthaha truly strengthened the way we teach and support young learners.”

Parul Thakur Bhai Shah

Anganwadi, worker

“Through the Neev Shikshan Sansthan NGO, they provided training in pre-primary education to all the Anganwadi workers and helpers working in the Vadodara Corporation. The importance of all stages of child development was explained, and four learning corners were created in the Anganwadi centres. This allows children to engage in activities that align with their interests. We were able to bring about a positive transformation in the Anganwadi centres, and the knowledge of our workers and helpers has increased. Today, pre-primary education is being implemented effectively in Anganwadi centres. The ICDS team of VMC will always be grateful to Neev Shikshan Sansthan NGO for this significant support”
